Rehoboth Beach Library

Each year I go to Rehoboth beach I pass the library.  It's on the main road. You can't miss it.

I have always asked those I am with if they want to go in, but never have I done it.  I am not sure why I never did this on my own.  This year as Ray and I sat on the beach I decided. Today was the day.

I'd like to think I decided because I have finally grown enough in my self-awareness to embrace who I am and what I like and not apologize for it. (maybe? 😊)

Rehoboth Beach Public Library
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library was established in order to provide free access to books for the community. In its early years the library moved between VIA member's homes and public spaces.  In June 1942 the State Library Commission designated space for the library at City Hall, where it remained for 43 years.  VIA member served as librarians until 1968 when the first professional librarian was hired.  The library relocated to Rehoboth Avenue in 1985, where it has remained since.  The east end addition was completed in 2000.

I am always amazed how people get behind an idea.  Remember how we had a "library" at the Christopher's house - on the front closed in porch?  I remember we brought books and so did Kelly and Karianne.  I wonder what they are doing now.

This was the children's area.  I met a nice woman and her kids about 11 and 8 who were reading and picking out books.

I got this for free.  I already own it, but I wasn't sure; so of course I picked it up.

I was trying to be low-key taking pictures, but I like how this place had a puzzle on the table for all to join in.  This one looks like it is based on Lord of the Rings or something.

I suppose it is a typical library.  It has the old timey tall stacks which I liked. Most of the modernized libraries have shorten the stacks.  It smelled of books and learning. There were people reading, and using the computer even on a beautiful day at the beach. Yay, books!

Havre de Grace Library

Havre de Grace Library 120 N. Union Ave So today is the first day of the summer of ME. First off, I am finding very quickly that I do not do well without a schedule. Yikes.. I will be working for the rest of my life it seems because that feels good to me. Unless I can force myself to make a schedule of sorts... this is the plan. I wanted to go to a library that I had not been to before, but decide instead to blog about this one to show you, my dear sister, what I see. The pictures are obviously amateur and from my cell phone, but they do a fairly good job. It is a lovely place filled with books and wonderment. The side- the main entrance  What you see when you first walk in This front desk that you first see isn't always manned. and just out of the picture to the right you can see the beginning of the stairs as pictured  below.  To the left are some conference rooms - very large ones, and I think behind this desk there are offices. stairs sta...

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith

I just finished Book One.  I love how this is written and how I feel like I am in Francie's head even though it is written in 3rd person.  I love how she watches the world around her and thinks deeply about the people she sees.  I can relate.  I feel extravagant when thinking of the meager way her family lives. Interesting her thoughts on the Jews and how Jewish women walk proudly when pregnant as they might give birth to Jesus... Irish woman walk shamefully because they will only have a Mick...this made me laugh. I finally met the mom's sister, Sissy. Three husbands! That is scandalous in 1912... it is still a thought that makes most of us go.. um whoa.  Sad that she has had 10 babies who all died. What in the world?! I am not sure I could handle that. She also apparently doesn't purchase the whispered about products from her company. Yikes. Lastly, the food descriptions, again make me feel extravagant, but also make me think of that Cooking with Norma...

Solving the Problem

My day today has been busy and yet overall uneventful. I have put off cleaning and laundry for the most part to finish reading my book, watch some mindless television, and eat perogies. I did time myself clearing off the island because, well you know how things are huge in your head? I did not rush at all and it took me 4 minutes and 37 seconds. I shake my head.   I also went through a laundry basket, made a pile of clothes to give away, organized the basket with blankets including the box with my electric blanket for storage.  pile to give away for storage Now neither of these things call for the title of "Solving the Problem", but what does...comes next. I had been putting off fixing the sink as well. I knew I could do it, and I am still unsure as to why I was procrastinating. I finally said, "Let's go, Jennifer. You need to do this thing." It helped knowing that I was going to blog my adventure for you. small amount of water Thi...
